About
A gift to the city of Los Angeles
Eli and Edythe Broad founded The Broad to share the over 2,000 works of contemporary art in the Broad collection and establish a new cultural monument in Los Angeles. Built over fifty years of collecting art of their own time, the collection spans nearly 200 artists — from Basquiat, Kusama, Koons and Warhol to Kerry James Marshall, Julie Mehretu and Cindy Sherman. Since opening in 2015 the museum has welcomed over 7 million visitors, and general admission has always been free. The museum is also home to The Broad Art Foundation, a pioneering lending library that has loaned artworks to museums more than 9,000 times worldwide.
