Fifteen drafts, one masterpiece: the Thomas course

A crowning achievement, unchanged by time

George C. Thomas, an amateur architect who agreed to design the golf course free of charge, worked through 18 months and 15 iterations of his design before his masterpiece opened for play in 1927. His work has withstood the test of time: even today, Riviera is considered one of the finest natural layouts in all of golf, consistently ranked as a top 50 course in the world and among the top 25 in the United States.
