Your own paper pattern, and a fitting you can still change

True bespoke, not made-to-measure

At Alan David Custom the expertise lies in 100+ years of measuring and tailoring skill. The garments commissioned here are tailored to fit your individual body — true bespoke attire. Your measurements are taken by one of the old-world bespoke tailors or master fitters, and each set is interpreted and cut into your own individual paper pattern, then assembled over many hours of meticulous sewing. Every custom suit also comes with a basted fitting: the garment is temporarily assembled with loose basting thread so posture, balance and shoulder line can be refined while changes are still possible.

Five stages

  1. 1. Consultation

Your vision, lifestyle and requirements, then a curated selection of luxury fabrics from Italy and England including Zegna, Loro Piana and Dormeuil. About 30 to 60 minutes.

  2. 2. Measurements

Over 30 precise measurements capture posture, shoulder slope and natural stance. One to two weeks after the consultation.

  3. 3. Basted fitting

Hand-assembled with loose white basting stitches so drape, shape and comfort are perfected before permanent stitching. One to two weeks.

  4. 4. Construct

Full bespoke construction with full canvas chest pieces, hand-stitching and pick-stitched details. Two to three weeks.

  5. 5. Fitting and delivery

Final adjustments are finished on-site and your pattern is saved for future orders. Roughly four to five weeks from stage one; a rush order runs 10 to 14 days.
