Fire Station Nº 4, est. 1923

Before the paella, there were fire trucks. The building at 1000 South Miami Avenue went up in 1923 as Miami's Fire Station Nº 4, designed by architect H. Hasting Mundy in the Mediterranean Revival style of the era — two-story hipped roof, arcaded porch, stucco walls and whimsical balconies. Today the building is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

The firehouse never really left. It is on the label of the house wine, in the Firehouse 1923 cocktail, and in Fire Station Nº 4, the Miami-brewed house lager — a landmark that traded hoses for a wine list.

One address, two lives

    Fire Station Nº 4 opens

    Built in the Mediterranean Revival style by H. Hasting Mundy in the heart of what is now Brickell's Financial District; later listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

    Lolita moves in

    Dolores But You Can Call Me Lolita opens its doors with international fusion cooking and a rooftop dining terrace above the skyline.
