Two Aussies, one neighborhood cafe
It all started when...
Justin Giuffrida grew up in Melbourne — the cafe capital of the world. Andrew Geisel came from the sunny shores of the Gold Coast. They met in New York City working at a local coffee shop, bonded over their shared Australian culture, and in 2016 opened the first Citizen right here in Chelsea. Since then, Citizen has worked to become an integral part of every community it joins: getting to know the regulars, welcoming new faces, and hosting everything from local art installations to movie nights, family brunches, and comedy shows.
