The landmark

One stage. Unbridled beats.

Shoreline Amphitheatre made its debut in the summer of 1986 — originally scheduled to open with the Grateful Dead, who returned in 1987 and have played this stage 39 times since. The venue was a stop on the very first Lollapalooza tour in 1991, with lineups boasting Nine Inch Nails, Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, Red Hot Chili Peppers, The Smashing Pumpkins and A Tribe Called Quest. And every October for years, Neil and Pegi Young's Bridge School Benefit brought all-acoustic sets from legends like Elton John, Willie Nelson, Bruce Springsteen and Tony Bennett to Mountain View.
