Icy-N-Spicy is a family-run dessert shop with a focus on artisan ice cream, combining the ice cream flavors of Europe and Asia. The signature spicy ice cream recipes were created by owner Xiaoli Liu, who hails from Sichuan province in China — home of the spiciest food — with the dessert recipes of three generations of women behind her. After she met her husband Dejan, the two came up with the idea of opening a dessert shop where their love story began.

That shop sits in the lobby of the Carlyle, one of Miami's famous historical buildings on Ocean Drive. The counter runs on local, fresh ingredients, the walls carry a collaboration with American artist Jay Bellicchi — REMOTE — and success is measured by the smiles of the customers. Pick up a cone, mochi or a signature scoop and keep strolling South Beach.
